Apple Launches 2012 MacBook Pro With 15.4" Retina Display And USB 3.0
Well, we were expecting them a lot sooner but they’re finally here. Apple has just announced their new slimmer 15.4″ MacBook Pro lineup. The new MacBook Pro sports a new Retina display which is the first display of its kind which is being shipped in notebooks. The display measures exactly 15.4″ when measured diagonally and Apple managed to pack a display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800. It’s not a surprise that Apple has launched Retina display notebooks, there was a chatter about a High Resolutions Macs from last year when high resolution stock icon were discovered in Mac OS X Lion. The reports got strong about Retina display Macs when developers found another set of Retina icons in OS X Mountain Lion which is Apple’s latest operating system.
No optical drive. Yes, Apple has finally removed optical drives from 15.4″ Retina display 2012 MacBook Pros. We reported back in March that Apple is indeed planning to remove optical drive from MacBook Pros. The company introduced their best and the finest notebook — MacBook Air with no optical drive and it turned out to be a game changer for notebook industry. With no optical drive this machine is thinner then I was expecting. By thin I mean very thin. It’s just 0.71 inches thick, YES that’s it 0.71 inches nothing more nothing less. One of the most prominent thing apart from optical drive which is not available in thinner 15.4 inch MacBook Pros is the famous Ethernet port. Yup, Ethernet port has been killed by Apple. But don’t worry if you’re a network guy and want to hook up your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with LAN via Ethernet, you can buy a Thunderbolt Ethernet converter.
The next-generation MacBook Pro offers up to 16 gigabytes of RAM, and has Intel Ivy Bridge quad-core Core i5 and Core i7 processors available. Slimmer MacBook Pros also sport USB 3.0/2.0 jacks, SD Card slot. One of the best thing about these Macs is that they will still give you 7 hours of battery time.
