A Fragrance Which Smells Like New Apple Products, Yes It Exists
People are addicted to certain fragrances, I happen to know a lot of people who like smell of new fabric and new shoes (believe it) and I personally like smell of new car interior but we have a new category now. Have you ever smelled new Apple products, I’m sure you have. There’s no doubt that Apple ships their products in beautiful packaging which are not only environmental friendly but also carefully designed, heck they have a dedicated room for testing product packaging what else can you expect.
Anyhow, coming back to the story, three young designers have created a new fragrance which smells like new MacBook Pro or any other new Apple products. No, I’m not kidding it really exists. So here’s the complete story on how did they managed to do it. Well they’re just the brains behind this unique rather strange idea of capturing fragrance of a new MacBook Pro. Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer & Simon McGlinn are three Australian artists who wanted a unique fragrance for their exhibition. So the trio called one of the best people in business to do the job for them — Air Aroma.
The process of creating this signature fragrance started with an initial meeting with our client to understand the concept and desired effect of the fragrance. Once this was established, the ingredients for the fragrance had to be sourced. The scent requested by our client was quite unusual so we contacted our fragrance suppliers in the South of France to send over samples of fragrances with the aroma of glue, plastic, rubber and paper. Air Aroma fragrance designers then used these samples as ingredients to create a range of signature blend fragrances. The blends, each with unique recipes were then tested in the Air Aroma laboratory until a final fragrance was ultimately selected.
After this tossing and proportional mixing process the French masters needed to replicate this smell so that they could produce 100% accurate fragrance. A new MacBook pro boarded the air plane traveled 50,000KM and reached France where fragrance experts replicated the smell and finalized the final product. Mac Book boarded the air plane again for Australia along with the scent of MacBook Pro.
This special fragrance won’t be available on Air Aroma’s online retail store as it was a custom made product.”The fragrance forms part of their exhibition at West Space, which is entitled ‘De facto Standard’.” If you’re in Melbourne then you have a chance to smell it, the exhibition will take place at West Space – Level 1, 225 Bourke Street from April 20th till May 12th.
