iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak To Be Called Absinthe V2.0, Video Demo Of Jailbreak Process

Absinthe

We’re flooded with iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak news as we’re getting close to the release of Absinthe v2.0. Yes, that’s what upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak would be called, famous iOS hacker and developer Xvolks updated about this name in his Twitter updates just moments ago. Absinthe was first released by Chronic dev team in January earlier this year to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered. Absinthe v1 was the first jailbreak for iPhone 4S and second for iPad 2. Absinthe 2.0 is also going to be the very first public and untethered jailbreak for iPad 3 also known as the new iPad.

I have my new bootrom 3gs jailbroken untethered on iOS 5.1.1 thanks to the new Absinthe v2.0-rc1. I’m currently testing with iPhone4…

And folks this not just the only good news we have today, Xvolks also posted a complete video of this jailbreak process in which he jailbreaked his iPhone 4 GSM on iOS 5.1.1 untethered. If you’ve already used previous version of Absinthe jailbreaking tool then you must be familiar with the process. Absinthe does not work like Redsn0w because this untether works within iOS itself without the involvement of hardware. Remember that we don’t have a bootrom level (hardware) exploit for A5 and A5X processors. Just like earlier version of Absinthe this version would also Restore your iPhone from back up so it’s highly recommend that you perform this process on freshly restored iPhone, iPod or iPad but if you rely on unlock then you should NEVER restore a stock IPSW firmware file.

According to Xvolks, Absinthe V 2.0 worked flawlessly on his iPhone 4 and he jailbreaked it on iOS 5.1.1 untethered. We can also expect a redsn0w update soon after the launch of Absinthe 2.0. Chronic dev team may also release a Cydia package like Corona 5.0.1 Untether for already (tethered) jailbreaked non A5-A5X devices running iOS 5.1.1.

Pod2G earlier today confirmed that the jailbreak is almost complete and it will be released in coming days. Absinthe v2 will be released for both Mac and Windows operating system followed a Linux build. The build is already complete which means the jailbreak is ready.

Keep your fingers crossed folks because it’s coming.
