Apple Media Event And iPad 2 Details!
Well Well Well, i knew it i just knew it that Steve Jobs would be there to unveil iPad 2 for you guys. And it happened Steve Jobs was there to show us the New iPad 2.

Event details are as follows:
He started off with giving some details about iBooks application, he said:
100 million books downloaded in less than a year
Then he quoted some stats about number of iPhones shipped which were like this :
We recently shipped our 100,000,000th iPhone
Steve Jobs in his own way started off introducing iPad 2 by taking us back in history.
Today we’re here to talk about Apple’s third post-PC blockbuster.In 2001, we had the ipod. In 2007, we had the iPhone. in 2010, the iPad
He also said:
When we introduced the iPad, we said it was our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device. People laughed at us for calling it magical — but it’s turned out to be magical. People didn’t necessarily agree with the price — but ask our competitors now.
2010 was the year of the iPad. We sold nearly 15 million iPads in 2010 (Apr-Dec). That’s more than every tablet pc EVER sold.
It also generated a little over 9.5 billion in revenue for Apple in 2010. We’ve never had a product that started off like that
Steve also compared iPad with Android devices and then he showed a video about iPad.
We’ve gotten off to an exceptional first year. We’d like to build on that. What about 2011? EVERYONE has a tablet Will it be the year of the copycats?
Then he introduced the very new iPad 2.
Some of the key features are as follows:
- New A5 Chip
- 2X Faster
- 9X Faster Graphics
- Same Power consumption as of A4′s
- Front and rear facing cameras
- Gyroscope
- 13.4 Mm down to 8.8 mm thick (thinner then your current iPhone)
- It’s lighter as well. 1.5 pounds down to 1.3
- They will both support AT&T and Verizon
These were the exact things we mention in our post earlier this week. iPad 2 will come in white as well plus they will be shipping white iPad 2 from day one. It’s got the same legendary 10 hour battery life. The thing which is really amazing is the price. Yes, it’s gonna cost you the same $499.
They will start shipping it to US from March 11th, and from March 25th in a ton of other countries. It comes along with some really cool accessories. The first: HDMI video out, via dock accessory cable. Which means everything you see on the iPad will be output to the tv, at up to 1080. Works with ALL apps.
And now the coolest of ALL, Smart Covers. NO, its not a case, it’s a screen cover. It covers the screen, and folds back to hold it up for viewing. It’ll auto-wake and auto-sleep the ipad based on whether or not it’s open. It’s held in place using magnets. Magnets grasp and auto-align the case. You can put it on in a second. The micro-fiber screen cleans the screen every time you close it, and it’s incredibly minimal, it comes in polyurethane, which is used to make space suits! They also come in leather. Polyurethane cases will be $39, leather will be $69, How cool it that.
iOS 4.3:
Oh Yes they introduced it,Lets talk about the version of iOS running on the iPad 2, iOS 4.3. New goodies in 4.3:
- Dramatically improved Safari performance, with javascript 2x as fast as before.
- iTunes home sharing
- Airplay improvements
- Photo Booth!
- FaceTime
iOS 4.3 will be free on March 11th on iPad, iPhone (GSM), and iPod Touch (3rd and 4th Gen).
Steve also announced two new apps for iPad 2:
- iMovie
- Garage Band
