Apple To Launch iPad 3 On Steve Jobs' Birthday, February 24th ? [Rumor]
According to a recent report by Focus Taiwan Apple is planning to launch their next iteration of iPad on Steve Jobs’ birthday, February 24th 2012. This launch date is nearly three weeks aforetime Apple’s due iPad 3 March launch date. In order to meet the deadline Apple is reportedly pushing it’s iPad parts suppliers to swiftly wrap up iPad 3 for a special Funerary 24th launch.
A local Chinese-language newspaper reported Friday that iPad3 might be launched on Feb. 24 to mark the anniversary of the birth of Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs.
Citing sources close to Taiwanese makers in the iPad3 supply chain, the Economic Daily News said the gadget could be launched in mid-first quarter of next year or by the end of next March.
According to report Foxconn is also planning to cut down some of their employees Lunar New Year holidays which are officially starting from 23rd January. Foxconn is Apple’s primary assembler for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad 3, not only Foxconn but other iPad 3 part suppliers are also planning over night shifts in order meet February 24th deadline.
Catcher Technology, who are rumored to be producing cases for Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 also mentioned in a statement that “at least some of its employees will have to work overtime during the Lunar New Year holiday.”
Supply chain sources from China previously claimed that Apple would launch their next generation iPad 3 in March-April time frame. Market analyst also believed that Apple would follow their last year iPad launch time-frame and release next iteration of iPad in second week of March 2012.
If Apple releases iPad 3 on Steve Jobs’ birthday, February 24th then this won’t be the first time, calif based fruit company has previously released sme of their major products on Steve Jobs’ birthday.
It is also rumored that Apple would launch a mini- iPad with 7.85 inch display at the end of second quarter in order to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire. iPad 3 references were also found in iOS 5.1 Beta 1 and iOS 5.1 Beta 2 codes.
