Apple's HDTV To Carry iSight Camera For FaceTime, AirPlay And Siri [Renders]
According to COM’s reliable source, Apple is planning to introduce a Face Tracking iSight camera in their upcoming rumored HDTV. The source also told them about AirPlay support and Siri integration in the HDTV. Rumors are very usual in tech industry and they get a lot wind when they’re somehow related to a company like Apple. We’ve heard so many rumors about upcoming product and to be honest not all of them get to the shelves. But when you constantly keep on getting reports and rumors about something, that indicates the authenticity of the work which is being done on the product. Like we’ve been hearing a lot about Apple’s take on television industry from quite some time now, in the beginning they were just random puffs from the rumors mill but in last 6-8 months rumors about a possible HDTV by Apple are getting stronger.
Now Cult of Mac‘s source is weighing in, according to their “well placed” sources Apple is indeed working on an HDTV and he actually saw one of those devices in person. The first question would be; what does it look like? According to report it looks just like Apple’s current lineup of Apple LED Cinema Displays but it’s much bigger than Cinema Displays.
“It resembled an Apple monitor, only much larger,”
The source also claims that Apple’s HDTV would be capable of making FaceTime calls with and iSight camera. The only problem which arises when you think about a built-in TV camera is; “duh! Do I have to stand in front of my TV to talk to my friends or family” Well that’s clearly not what the report says, according to the same source Apple is planning to introduce a new Face Tracking technology in their HDTV which would track your face (of course). Face Track feature would allow iSight camera to follow your face wherever you move in your living room.
This rumored HDTV would also support direct AirPlay which means you won’t need any third party device like Apple TV to stream your media content from your iOS device to a huge LED screen. Siri is also rumored to make an appearance in Apple’s HDTV. Siri has done incredible stuff in the past and it has revolutionized everything about smartphones. Siri would also be used to initiate FaceTime calls.
Unfortunately no more details about other features were made available by the source but we have already heard reports about iCloud integration which makes sense as well. There’s no information available regarding launch date, pricing or other features of this device.
