Comex To Drop "Fast Jailbreak" Method, Will Release JailbreakMe 3.0 With Old Jailbreaking Method

We told you guys earlier that @comex is working on  a faster jailbreaking method which included “unionfs” to reduces jailbreak time significantly. Unionfs involved moving some large directories from the small / partition into the large /var partition, then creating symlinks from the original to the new location. This both ensures that any additional stuff put in those directories by packages will end up in the /var partition, and frees up space on the / partition for files created outside of those directories.

Now according to comex he is facing a lot of issues and bugs in this process which are delaying the release of his browser based jailbreak tool called JailkbreakMe 3.0. He also mentioned that if bugs persist til tomorrow he’ll abandon this new and faster jailbreak approach and will release Jailbreak 3.0 with old method of reorganizing the file system. In a tweet today he said:

yeah, I’d love to fix unionfs but if I can’t fix all my issues with it by tomorrow, it’s cut

Remember that the said tool will jailbreak iPad 2 and all other iOS devices running iOS 4.2-4.3.3.

There’s still no ETA , but if he drops unionfs method then we can expect JailbreakMe 3.0 really soon.

As always we will keep you updated!
