Apple Releases iOS 5.1.1 Update For iPhone, iPad, And iPod touch [Download Links]
Apple has just released a minor iOS 5.1.1 update for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, and iPod touch. Today’s iOS 5.1.1 update brings some minor bug fixes which were reported in iOS 5.1. Remeber that iOS 5.1.1 is the first update for iPad 3 because iPad 3 customer got iOS 5.1 out of the box. Today’s minor update brings a bug fix for iPad 3, now iPad users can switch between 2G and 3G networks which they couldn’t in previous version of iOS.
iOS 5.1 was released for all iOS 5 supported device on March 7th along with the new iPad aka iPad 3. iOS 5.1 was a major update which brought a new lockscreen for iPhone users and Japanese language support for Siri. However, today’s iOS 5.1.1 update is apparently a minor one with just some bug fixes here and there. Following major issues have been fixed in today’s iOS update:
- -Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
- -Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
- -Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
- -Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
- -Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

An OTA update of iOS 5.1.1 was also pushed to devices who are currently running iOS 5.1. OTA update for iOS 5.1.1 weighs about 54 MB which indicates that nothing much has been changed in this build. If you want to update your iOS device with Apple’s latest iOS 5.1.1 then you can either do it by downloading and installing iOS 5.1.1 OTS update or you can connect your iOS device to iTunes and update it. Important: There’s is not jailbreak tool available for iOS 5.1.1 as yet so we strongly;y recommend jailbreakers to stay away from this updates. If you update your iOS device to iOS 5.1.1 you will loose your jailbreak. iPhone unlockers who rely on software unlock like Ultrasn0w or hardware unlock like Gevey SIM or R-SIM should stay away from this update as well because they’re not compatible with today’s iOS 5.1.1 update.
