Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 On iPhone 4,3GS, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 1
iPhone dev team has just released an updated version of their jailbreaking tool redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1. Updated version redsn0w 0.9.9b8 now fully supports iOS 5.0.1 which means you don’t have to point redsn0w to iOS 5 IPSW file while jailbreaking.
To make things easier for Cydia devs, added 5.0.1beta keys to redsn0w 0.9.9b8http://is.gd/6eek4Y (please see update #16 for details)
iOS 5.0.1 was released to address some known bugs which were found in iOS 5. iOS 5.0.1 is only available for registered Apple developers and a public build is expected in coming weeks. iOS 5.0.1 was jailbroken right after it’s release using redsn0w 0.9.9b7 but users had to point redsn0w to iOS 5 IPSW file in order to jailbreak their iOS devices. Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 fully supports iOS 5.0.1 which means you don’t need to download iOS 5 IPSW file in order to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 but as this build is not public so redsn0w won’t auto-detect your iOS 5.0.1 files. You still need to provide redsn0w 0.9.9b8 with iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file in first run.
Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 Release Notes:
redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick). Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).
For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1. (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)
This is still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.
Supported Device and Jailbreak State:
- iPhone 4 (Tethered)
- iPhone 3GS Old Bootrom (Untethered)
- iPhone 3GS New Bootrom (Tethered)
- iPad 1 (Tethered)
- iPod Touch 4G (Tethered)
