Add Shortcuts On Your iPhone's Lock Screen With FastLock [Cydia Tweak]

New Cydia UI

Just when I thought that Cydia Tweaks are getting useless and they’re not adding additional functionality or providing any benefit to users, I saw FastLock. It’s a new Cydia tweak which makes your lazy life much easier than before. Even though iOS comes packed with tons of features which makes iPhone usage easy in our day to day routine but there are people who wants to access some features quickly. For example making a call, setting an alarm, texting someone and other basic tasks. We can simply unlock our device and start calling someone or launch Messages app to text someone but there is an easy way — FastLock– to access these apps straight from your iPhone’s lock screen.

FastLock is a nifty tweak which adds shortcuts on your iPhone’s lock screen just like notifications. You can simply swipe them and jump straight to the app, yes, it’s that simple just swipe and you’re golden. FastLock is beautifully designed and it will give you a native feel because of it’s design. Once installed, FastLock won’t create any icon on your SpringBoard (Home Screen) or give you configuration options in Setting.app. So all you have to do is just install it and ReSpring your iPhone.

You will get following option on your lock screen after installing FastLock:

  • Place a call
  • Send a message
  • Send an email
  • Tweet
  • Add a contact
  • Add a note
  • Set an alarm or timer
  • Take a photo

A lot of people might think that “Take a photo” option is useless because iOS already have this feature built-in but remember that FastLock works on iOS 4 as well which means people who’re not kicking iOS 5 in their device will get an option to access Camera.app from their lock screen as well.

Overall this tweak worked perfectly great during testing and there’s no reason not to recommend it. But there are couple of things which are still missing, like I mentioned above that you won’t get configuration options for FastLock that means we cannot pick our shortcuts. Users should be able to pick shortcuts they want on their lock screen. Other than that it’s a brilliant tweak.

FastLock is available for download in Cydia under ModMyi repo for $0.99.
