According to this recent report, Terry Gou met Apple’s senior executives during his recent visit to Japan. Terry Gou has personal investments in an LCD TV manufacturing plant in Osaka and the report also mentions that Mr. Gou showed this plant to Apple executives on several occasions.

Gou has previously said that some good news may emerge during the Year of the Snake, starting the speculation that his comments referred to iTV orders, but spokesmen at the company have declined to comment.

Interestingly, the report also claims that Apple was originally planning to unveil iTV in March this year. The launch event of Apple iTV was delayed because Apple’s LCD suppliers LG and Sharp “failed to reach supply quota”, the report said.

Initially, it was heavily reported that Sharp which is partially owned by Foxconn would secure Apple’s iTV orders. Recently, Sharp sold some of its shares to Apple’s arch rival Samsung and that’s the prime reason why Apple would go for Foxconn, the report said.

Mr. Gou and Apple executive have reportedly discussed the production details and timing of shipments for iTVs, though no deal has been signed as yet. According to the report, Apple may finalize its decision in May or June, and the iTVs will likely be manufactured at Gou’s LCD plant in Osaka.

Rumors about a possible full fledged Apple iTV are being passed around in the market from a long time. The number of reports and rumors about iTV increased significantly by the end of 2011. It was also reported that chairman of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, also know as Foxconn Terry Gou explicitly confirmed Apple’s rumored HDTV during his inaugural speech at company’s new headquarter in Shanghai China.

Speculations related to Apple’s iTV, its parts and launch date went cold when Apple announced their 6th generation of iPhone but it seems like iTV is back in the business.

Analysts and Apple pundits believe that Apple’s HDTV won’t make its way to shelves anytime this year. Details about launch of this TV are still scant but this recent report from Commercial Times suggests that Apple is seriously working on iTV.
