How Apps Would Look Like On 4 Inch iPhone Screen [Photos]
Apple amazed the tech world in 2007 when they unveiled a complete 3.5 inch touch screen smartphone. Apple has changed the phone a lot internally and externally in last 5 years but there’s still one thing which Apple didn’t change — 3.5 inch screen. It was highly speculated that Apple would introduce a new large screen before the launch of iPhone 4 in 2010 and iPhone 4S in 2011 but the fruit company sticked to their 3.5 screen. Though Apple’s competitive companies introduced a lot of smartphone in various screen sizes but none of them got popularity like iPhone. Smartphone manufacturers are offering different screen sizes ranging between 4.0 inches to 5.0 inches and it’s about time that Apple should introduce a new larger screen in upcoming 6th generation iPhone.
A recent report from WSJ claimed that Apple is planning to introduce 4.0 inch screen in 6th generation iPhone. The company is reportedly in talks with three different companies for taller 4.0 inch screens and the production of these screen would kick off next month. Sources also claim that Apple is not going to make iPhone any wider than it is right now, the company would make iPhone tall and add more pixels. Famous designers and analysts showed a mixed response toward this report because Apple would be changing their aspect ratio for the first time if they make it taller.
But have you ever wondered how your favorite apps would look like on a taller 4 inch screen ? Overdrive Design blog (via 9t05Mac) have created some illustrations of 4 inch iPhone screen and how some of our favorite iOS apps would like on 4 inch display.
Some sources are suggesting a new display resolution of 640 x 1152 at an aspect ratio more fitting of HDTV content, while maintaining physical hardware dimensions similar to the iPhone 4/4s. We decided to see how some applications would benefit from the additional real estate. The images below compare the rumoured new screen size with that of the existing iPhone 4/4s.
I have to admit that they look good but we have no idea how the company is planning to use a taller 4 inch display so it would be too early to comment on it.
