Here's How To Enable Facebook's New Timeline [Guide]
If you jus came back from a trip to Mars then you aren’t probably aware of Facebook’s new Timeline feature which they released last night at Facebook f8 conference along with other cool new apps and features. This is an amazing new way to view your Facebook’s timeline, it will show you your memories from the day you joined Facebook to present day in a very organized way. This is like viewing your Facebook Life in an easy way, you can organize your stuff the way you want remove whatever you want from your Facebook Timeline.
Facebook rolled-out this feature for Facebook developers only but it turns out it’s not that hard to become a Facebook developer. We will take you through a step-by-step guide which will allow you to become a developer and activate this really cool new Timeline feature for your own profile.
But there are some limitations for now, like:
- This feature has just been released and it probably not work at times (didn’t happen in my case). But it’s not public yet so give this feature a little space for improvement.
- After enabling Facebook timeline if you switch your computer you won’t be able see your timeline but you can access it from any other machine using this link http://www.facebook.com/YOUR-USERNAME-HERE?sk=timeline
How To Enable Facebook’s New Timeline:
This is the most easiest and only way to enable Facebook’s Timeline feature
Step 1: Log in to Facebook.
Step 2: You will need to enable developer mode if you haven’t already. Simply type “Developer” in the search box and click on the top result.
Step 3: Go to the developer app, which can be found here should Facebook not automatically redirect you.
Step 4: Create a new app, and give it a name and namespace (no CAPS allowed with the namespace).
Step 5: Once that’s done, click on the “Get Started using open graph” under the “Open Graph” header.
Step 6: You will then be asked to create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”.
Step 7: Next, you’ll be met with a config page of your selected action. Navigate through that page and the next three pages of settings.
Step 8: Once you have gone through the last page and hit “Save and Finish”, after a couple of minutes, an invite to try Timeline should appear at the top of your homescreen.
And that was it, you can now edit and customize your Facebook timeline the way you want, Enjoy!!
