How To Install Siri On Your iPhone 4 And iPhone 3GS With Free i4Siri Proxy Server [Guide]
Siri has been around us from over 6 months now and no matter what people say about it, it just works. It completely shifted the focus of top tier smartphone manufacturers to a new feature– voice control. Almost every smartphone had it before, even Apple had their Voice Control in iPhones but that wasn’t enough of feature to make its place in market. Smartphone manufacturers majorly focus on pumping their internal with beastly processors and more memory but they forget to work on little details, Apple did it in iPhone 4S not only they spiced up internals by introducing a dual core A5 processors but they also worked on Siri which paid off. But there is a minor hiccup in all this, Siri personal voice assistant was kept as an iPhone 4S exclusive feature and Apple had their reason for it.
Explicitly speaking, people went crazy in order to get it ported on older iOS devices. Famous developers from jailbreak community managed to port it on iPhone 4, iPod Touch and even iPhone 3GS and iPad. Some illegal and fake ports surfaced but CHPWN released a legal Siri port for older iOS devices including iPhone4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and even iPad by the name of Spire. But the mystery is still hanging there because you still need and iPhone 4S to get Spire working on older iOS device by creating a SiriProxy server. Spire did make this process a lot easier then it was before but you need a Siri Proxy server to get it running. There are free servers available but they don’t work and there are great threats hurling around those servers. i4Siri project promised to bring a free solution to this, i4Siri works on basic custom commands but you should know that this not the “real Siri”.
i4Siri is a free solution which works in collaboration with CHPWN’s Spire tweak and here’s how you can get it.
Remember: You will need Spire before you could get it to work with i4Siri.
In order to download Spire you will of course need a jailbroken iOS device running iOS 5, if don’t have a jailbroken iOS device you can follow our complete step by step guides to jailbreak your iPad 1, iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod touch 4G untethered using redsn0w 0.9.10b4, Corona 5.0.1 Untether and Snowbreeze 2.9. If you have an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 you can jailbreak it untethered using Absinthe for Windows or Mac and CInject.
Step 1: Launch Cydia and tap on Search tab, search Spire and install it
Note: Spire weighs around 100MB so it can take a lot of time to install so just hang in there for some time.
Step 2: Once Spire is installed on your iPhone 4 , iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch or any other iOS device go to Settings>General>Siri and turn it On
Step 3: Go back to Settings.app and Spire configuration, add following Siri proxy URL:
Step 4: Launch Safari from your iOS and navigate to http://i4siri.com/installcertificate.html
Safari will now open another window in which you will be asked to install a profile which is necessary for i4Siri to work.
That was it folks go ahead and try, it should work for you. But remember that this is just a mirror of Siri so don’t expect it to be as good as Siri.
We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
