How To: Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 On iPhone 4S, iPad 3, And iPod touch With Absinthe v2.0 [Guide]
Chronic Dev team released much awaited iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak in the form of Absinthe V2.0. Chronic Dev released iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak after their presentation at Hack in the Box conference which is taking place in Amsterdam. Absinthe v2.0 supports all iOS device expect Apple TV 3 and iPad2,4. The team has confirmed that they will add iPad 2,4 support to Absinthe later on.
After copious amounts of work and many sleepless nights Absinthe 2.0 is finally here to jailbreak your device. This release has been a large collaborative effort between Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Teams (Jailbreak Dream Team)
This jailbreak supports firmware 5.1.1 ONLY and is again one of the most easiest jailbreaks to use (so easy your grandma could do it ;D)
This is the first public jailbreak for iPad 3 and I won’t be surprised if you’re excited because of this jailbreak because I am. So, without wasting any more time let’s get to jailbreak process.
Things To Remember:
- Absinthe v2.0 jailbreak will only support devices running iOS 5.1.1.
- Back up your iOS device before performing this jailbreak.
- If you rely on unlock then do not restore a stock IPSW file because it WILL update your iPhone’s baseband and you will loose your unlock.
How To Jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 3 And Other iOS Devices With Absinthe V2.0:
Step 1: Download Absinthe v2.0 for Windows, Mac OS X or Linux operating system from here.
Step 2: Connect your iOS device to computer and make a back up (recommended)
Step 3: Run Absinthe v2.0 which you downloaded earlier, it will extract and create a folder within downloaded folder, open it and run Absinthe
Step 4: Absinthe 2.0 will now detect your connected iOS devices and all you have to do is just click on the jailbreak button.
Step 5: Sit back and relax, Absinthe v 2.0 will now start the jailbreak process on your iPhone 4S, ipad 3 or any other iOS device connect to your computer.
Important: Do not disconnect your iOS device from your computer during this process, let Absinthe finish the jailbreak process. There is a possibility that your device may reboot several times. Hang in there tight.
