Interposer SIM Unlocks For Baseband 4.11.08 And 4.12.01 Won't Work
The issue has been around from quite some time now, there are thousands of iPhone 4 units which are locked on iOS 5′s baseband 4.11.08 and a new baseband 4.12.01 which was introduced by Apple in iOS 5.1. Hundreds and thousands of people who were locked on both these basebands unlocked their devices by calling AT&T and getting their iPhone’s unlock officially from AT&T. But there were people who were not using iPhones which were locked to AT&T, what about them? Well they also got a chance last week when a vulnerability was found in Apple’s activation server which gave thousands of iPhone 4 users who rely on unlock to unlock their devices with SAM. But that didn’t work well for many people and some of them just didn’t know about this procedure so it was too late for them to unlock their iPhones because Apple patched this vulnerability.
We all know that 4.11.08 has been a hard nut for ALL dev teams to crack. We’ve waited for six months and every baseband hacker has worked really hard on unlocking this baseband but no success. Just one day after the discovery of SAM unlock famous interposer SIM manufacturer Gevey released their version of iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 and 4.12.01 unlock and started selling it for $50, something similar happened with R-SIM 4 which was in pipeline from 3 weeks. ApplenBerry, who’re official resellers of Gevey SIM claimed that their unlocking method is not the one which includes SAM but that wasn’t the case here. Many people ordered their SIM from their website and today they released a shocking but expected statement that their interposer SIMs won’t work and they will refund every penny.
But what happened? It turned out that both R-SIM 4 and Gevey SIM unlock for baseband 4.11.08 and baseband 4.12.01 relied on the vulnerability which was found by Lokstar_Sun. When Apple patched their activation servers on April 27th this method also died and so did Gevey Unlock and R-SIM unlock or any other hardware unlock which claims to free your baseband 4.11.08 0r 4.12.01 tied iPhone 4.
So both these SIMs are a no go because they won’t unlock your iPhone, so far there is no news on any unlocking solution which may finally unlock baseband 4.11.08 and baseband 4.12.01. If you’ve already bought these SIM you can claim your money back.
Don’t buy any hardware unlocking solution right now.
