iOS 5.1 GM Passes Quality Assurance (QA) Testing [Report]

In the middle of iPad 3/HD reports and rumors we have something about Apple’s upcoming iOS 5.1 update. According to a recent report by Chronicwire iOS 5.1 Gold Master build has passed Quality Assurance (QA) testing. The report claims that Apple has been testing iOS 5.1 GM Build for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad  from  past couple of weeks. iOS 5.1 update is in works from quite some time now and Apple has been pushing back it’s launch because of iPad 3. According to Chronic:

The build number of iOS 5.1 Gold Master is 9B176 according to a very solid source, although three different partners who are testing the Gold Master claim to have slightly (by single digits) higher builds numbers on their copies, I’m assuming that’s because right now it’d make sense for those people to be testing what will soon be released as 5.1.1, so I’ve disregarded the claims.

Chronic is also reporting that iOS 5.1 Gold Master Build 9B176 carries new features and Japanese language Siri support. It was also reported couple of weeks ago that iOS 5.1 GM was leaked in the wild which revealed new camera button feature, this new feature allows you to swipe your lock screen up to reveals Camera.app for your iPhone.

Revamped Notes App is also reportedly coming in iOS 5.1 GM, it is still not clear whether Apple would release this GM build of iOS 5.1 tomorrow along with iPad 3/HD or not. Looking at Apple iOS GM release history we can say that it is highly likely that Apple would seed iOS 5.1 GM tomorrow right after iPad 3′s media event. Everything would be clear tomorrow at 10 am when Apple would unveil their iPad 3 at Yerba Buena Center of Arts.

We strongly recommend jailbreakers and unlockers to stay away from iOS 5.1 GM build. Apple has already patched Pod2G’s Corona Untether exploit in iOS 5.1 beta 2 and beta 3. Apple has released 3 beta versions of iOS 5.1 in last 4 months to registered Apple developers. This new iOS 5.1 update will address some major battery drainage issues in iPhone 4S and other iOS device which are running iOS 5.x.x.

We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
