Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 4 Using Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 | Download
You can now download redsn0w 0.9.8b4 to jailbreak you iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad 2 running iOS 5 beta4. Apple seeded iOS beta 4 to developers earlier today and a big change was OTA update. OTA updates for iOS 5 were announced back in June at WWDC 2011. iPhone-Dev has just released an updated version of redsn0w 0.9.8b4 to Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 4 on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad 2.
In release notes iPhone-Dev team said :
In conjunction with iOS5 beta4 being released to iOS developers, redsn0w 0.9.8b4 is now available for jailbreak app developers (point the b4 redsn0w at the b4 IPSW). Remember, it’s a tethered jailbreak right now so you’ll need to use redsn0w to boot into a jailbroken state at each power cycle.
Earlier it was confirmed by MuscleNerd of iPhone-Dev team that users who have jailbroken their iOS devices won’t be able to get OTA update of iOS 5 Beta 4. A lot of users were facing errors while updating thesr iDevices OTA for the first time. iPhone_Dev team has explained a little more about this problem with the release of redsn0w 0.9.8 b4, they said:
NOTE: It appears that by design, the OTA update that became available starting with iOS 5 beta4 will *not* be automatically applied to jailbroken devices. That’s a relief to those who don’t want to lose their jailbreak via OTA pushes. If you’re jailbroken, you’ll need to use the standard iTunes method to get to iOS 5 beta4.
If you have your iDevice jailbroken on iOS 5 beta 3 then you should manually restore .IPSW file of iOS 5 Beta 4 in order to avoid errors. You would also be needing iTunes 10.5 beta 4 if you want to restore of jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 5beta4. This jailbreak is tethered for now which means you’ll have to boot your iOS device in jailbroken state every time you reboot your iOS device.
