Leaked: Next Generation iPod Touch To Sport 4.1 Inch Taller Front Panel, iPhone 5 Home Button And Cameras [Images]
Just hours after the report of taller 3.95 inch iPhone prototypes being tested in Apple campuses MacRumors posted leaked images of taller next generation iPod Touch front panel. The touch panel images were leaked from one of the suppliers. According to these images, the display panel in next generation of iPod touch would be roughly 4.0 inch which falls perfectly in line with some recent reports from Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. The supplier claims that this front panel measure approximately 4.1 inches diagonally and it is a known fact that screen size a fraction smaller that outer touch panel of iOS devices which partially confirms the rumors and reports regarding a 3.95 inch screen in upcoming iPhone 5.
Though these leaked images are from the next generation of iPod but we all know that Apple uses the same display panel on both iPhone and iPod touch. It won’t be hard to call that upcoming iPhone 5 would utilize the same touch panel as iPod touch which in this case would be approximately 4.1 inches tall.
The same source also provided some pictures of upcoming iPhone 5′s Home button, Flex Cable, and most importantly the front and back cameras. It is still unclear whether these leaked camera images are authentic or not because the supplier mentioned that these images still require “verification”. This is not for the first time that replacement parts from upcoming iOS device are leaked from supply chain, we’ve already seen leaked images of iPhone 5′s purported Home button. A Chinese retailer also leaked replacement SIM tray of upcoming iPhone 5 and later headphone jack, earpiece and speakers. These leaks would become more frequent when we get closer to launch time frame.
Today’s leak confirm that Apple is not going to kill their iPod touch line which is also one of the best gaming devices on planet. Rumors regarding “Apple ending iPod touch line up” grew stronger when the company didn’t update their iPod touch lineup last year and just released a white variant of iP0d touch 4G.
This is just half of the story, rumor has that Apple is also planning to introduce 4G LTE technology in iPhone 5 and so far we haven’t seen and LTE related part leaks from supply chain. If Apple IS planning to introduce 4G LTE in upcoming iPhone 5 then it is highly likely that we will see some more leaks in near future.
We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
