Previously we told you that Redmond based software giant Microsoft is working on bringing their famous Microsoft Office productivity suite to the most famous tablet in the world. Now folks over The Daily have got their hands on a picture in which you can see Microsoft Office running on an iPad 2. So yeah, Microsoft Office for your iPad is real and it’s coming soon to iOS App Store very soon. According to The Daily:

A brief hands-on with a working prototype of the software revealed a number of new things. The app’s user interface is similar to the current OneNote app, but it has hints of Metro, the new design language that can be seen in Windows Phone and in the as-yet-released Windows 8 desktop operating system.

It won’t be a bad guess here for us to say that this app will have a metro flavor in it. Microsoft’s upcoming operation system Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7 already carry metro looks and “tiles based” UI so we can expect the same from their Office productivity suite for iOS. According to this report MS Office for iPad allows you to edit your Excel, Word and PowerPoint  files offline on your iPad. You also get the ability to edit these files online with MS Office.

Sources have also confirmed that Microsoft is not planning or working to release an Android version of their Office productivity suite. The only reason behind bringing MS Office on iPad is its ultimate popularity and the demand of MS Office on iPad by its users. This move would boost MS Office sales and their revenue significantly. Though today’s report does not include any idea about the price range of these apps but a previous report mentioned that Microsoft would launch their productivity suit in separate apps and each app would cost $9.95.

Remember that Apple already has their productivity suite which includes apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote available in App Store. Microsoft is definitely going to bring competition for  Apple in this game. We can also expect a revamped metro OneNote iOS app in coming weeks.

Though there’s no exact launch date available for MS Office for iPad but according to the report design team has wrapped up their work and we can expect Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word iOS apps in App Store in coming weeks.

We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
