Microsoft,You Never "Had It",TellMe Gets PWNED By Siri [Video]
Microsoft’s Chief Strategy and Research officer Eric Savitz in interview with Forbes claimed that Apple didn’t do anything new by introducing Siri in iPhone 4S. According to Eric, Microsoft already have this feature in their Windows Phone 7 devices from past one year, so it’s a been there done that thing for Microsoft.
In an interview with Craig Mundle from Forbes, Eric said:
People are infatuated with Apple announcing it. It’s good marketing, but at least as the technological capability you could argue that Microsoft has had a similar capability inWindows Phones for more than a year, since Windows Phone 7 was introduced.
Yes, it is true that Apple markets their product in a better way than any other competitor company in the market but there is a reason for that and it’s pretty obvious “They make good products”. In this case, Siri is one of the most sophisticated AI personal assistant mobile industry has ever seen. But Microsoft think they “had it” an year ago, Mr. Eric further said:
You can pick ‘em up and say ‘text Eric’ and say what you wanna say and it transcribes it. You can query anything through Bing by just saying the words. I mean, all that’s already there. Fully functional, been there for a year.
So yeah folks over Redmond or at least Mr. Eric thinks that you can just pick up your WP7 device and say anything you want and Microsoft’s TellMe feature will search it for on Bing. There’s a 25% chance that WP7′s TellMe will transcribe your command correctly and what happens if you get “lucky enough” ? All you are going to get in return is a Bing Search Results page. Let’s stop the talk and bring Microsoft’s TellMe feature against Apple’s Siri personal assistant.
Be the judge yourself, in my opinion TellMe is no way near Siri in any way. Siri is more sophisticated, more intelligent and way quicker than TellMe. So yeah Microsoft, you never “had it” not an year ago not today.
