Skype is one of the largest and famous VoIP calling network which allows you to video call anyone in world with Skype account for free. The service is not new it’s been around from quite some time and has become an integral part of desktops and mobile phones. Skype released their apps for every mobile OS be it iOS, Android or everything in between but we didn’t have Skype for Windows Phone 7. The weirdest thing is that Microsoft bought Skype for $8 billion and there was no Skype app for Microsoft’s emerging mobile operating system-Windows Phone 7.

We heard rumors about Skype coming to Windows Phone 7 really soon, we saw some leaked pictures as well but those rumors and so called leaked pictures were pretty doubtful.  Anyhow, beta version Skype for Windows Phone 7 is available in Marketplace and you can download it right now. Though the app is still in it’s beta phase but it looks pretty stable to me.

Imagine talking to friends, family, and colleagues anywhere in the world, and seeing them as if they’re in the same room. That’s Skype.
• Make and receive voice/video calls and instant messages to anyone else using Skype, whether on a Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac, PC or television.
• Use your Skype account for free at home, at work, or on-the-go (WiFi connection or mobile data plan required).

The app comes with some really basic features like every other Skype app for mobile operating systems. The thing which I personally love about this one is Metro looks. The designers did their best to produce the best  Skype app I’ve ever seen. Before this app was released I was a huge fan of Skype’s iPhone app but Windows Phone 7 version definitely beats it. You can make voice and video calls to your friends or if you Skype’s premium package then you can makes voice calls worldwide on any phone number.

Coming to cons of this app, there’s nothing horrible in this beta actually, it’s really and worked really fine for me. But there’s a little issue in this beta, it’s only available in English language only,so if your native language is not English then you can have little difficulty while using this app. This app has been tested on following WP7 mobile devices:

Nokia Lumia 710
• Nokia Lumia 800
• HTC Titan
• HTC Radar
• Samsung Focus S
• Samsung Focus Flash

Overall the app looks amazing and it works really smooth, if you have a WP7 device then you should download and test this one.

You can download beta version of Skype for Windows Phone 7 from Marketplace.
