PlanetBeing, MuscleNerd And P0sixninja Joins Pod2G For iPhone 4S,iPad 2 Jailbreak
iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak release is getting really close guys. Pod2g announced in a blog post moments ago that one of the first and famous iPhone hacker PlanetBeing along with other famous iOS developers like MuscleNerd of iPhone-Dev Team and P0sixninja of Chronic Dev team has joined him in A5 (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) jailbreak release.
Sandbox difficulties
@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks has joined the A5 research!
The famous @MuscleNerd , the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also.
And last, but not least @p0sixninja, the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.
We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5 jailbreak.
This is indeed a dream jailbreak dev team, according to the post now all of these jailbreak masterminds will work of fixing sandboxing difficulties. Remember that pod2g was the one who found vulnerability in iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 which he exploited to achieve an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1. Pod2g didn’t release iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak himself but he handed it over to iPhone-Dev team and Chronic Dev team for packaging and release. The main reason was to focus on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak because A5 was creating issues for pod2g.
Corona Untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was released by iPhone-Dev team in the form of redsn0w while Chronic Dev team released “Corona 5.0.1 Untether” Cydia package. Corona 5.0.1 Untetherd jailbreak only worked on A4 and previous devices which include:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPod Touch 4G
- iPad 1
- Apple TV 2G
Pod2G also posted FAQs about this upcoming iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak on his blog in which he mentioned about the difficulties he’s facing in iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak.
How could pod2g have an untethered 4S and dev teams still haven’t released tools to achieve this at home?
The exploit I used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account, and can’t be released publicly.
It’s the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn’t distribute it.
So, we need to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.
Why A4 version of Corona was easier to release?
Because a tethered jailbreak is a good way to install Corona!
Why don’t you do a tethered jailbreak then?
A tethered jailbreak also relies on an exploitable vulnerability that we still haven’t found yet!
pod2g, release this stuff quick, [your insult here], I’ve waited enough now.
If I could, I would!
Remember that iPhone-Dev team was the first one to demonstrate a (un)tethered jailbreak on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0. But as mentioned by pod2g that jailbreak requires a developer’s account and that’s why iPhone-Dev team didn’t release it. With this jailbreak team we can expect an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 very soon.
We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
