Pod2g of Chronic Dev Team Shows Off His iOS 5.0 Untethered Jailbreak
Well well well, it seems like we have an untethered iOS 5.0 jailbreak coming our way. Pod2g famous iOS developer and member of Chronic Dev team has just showed off his untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 in a video.
Pod2g updated about his work on iOS 5 untethered jailbreak nearly a month ago and it’s here now. Chronic Dev claimed earlier in September that they’ve found 5 userland exploits which they will use to jailbreak iOS 5.0 untethered but unfortunately Apple patched them. Chronic Dev team also confirmed couple of weeks ago that those userland exploits were indeed patched by Apple in final build of iOS 5.0 which was released on October 12th. Chronic Dev team also released cDev tool for jailbreaking community which allows you to send your iOS device’s crash reports directly to Chronic Dev servers. According to team this tool will help them finding exploits very quickly.
Coming back to today’s untethered jailbreak, there’s a lot of speculation that this untethered jailbreak relies on bug which Charlie Miller found but pod2g has denied all these reports.
Here’s iOS 5.0 untethered jailbreak video:
Will this iOS 5.0 untethered jailbreak work for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s?
This is the first in every iPad 2 and iPhone 4S owner’s mind. Unfortunately pod2g don’t have an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 so he didn’t test this jailbreak on both these devices. But don’t worry we have iPhone-Dev team working on that and they’ve already demoed their iOS 5.0 untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4S and iPad 2. We don’t have an exact launch date or an approximate ETA but it’s being worked on.
Will this iOS 5.0 untethered jailbreak work on iOS 5.0.1 ?
This is another important question because pod2g himself warned iOS jailbreak community almost a month ago that the untethered jailbreak he’s working on won’t work for iOS 5.0.1. But here’s a good news, pod2g now believes that this jailbreak would work on iOS 5.0.1. though it can take a little more time to make a mature build of this iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak but it WILL work.
When is iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak releasing?
There’s no exact launch date, no developer in the history of iOS jailbreaking has ever mentioned about release time-frame. This jailbreak looks very promising and if it gets mature soon then an updated version of Greenpois0n will be released in order to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPhone 3GS, and iPad 1 running iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1.
We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
