Pod2g Resolves A5 Caching Issue, iPhone 4S Untethered Jailbreak On Horizon
And we have a good news for iPhone 4S owners, iOS developer pod2g who is working on bringing an iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak announced yesterday that he’s facing some issues with iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak.This news of A5 caching issue crashed iPhone 4S owners’ hope for an untethered or even a tethered iPhone 4S jailbreak on iOS 5.0 or iOS 5.0.1.
Pod2g in a blog post earlier today has confirmed that he has successfully resolved A5 caching issue. The issue was probably because of dual-core A5 processor. Recent update by Pod2g has turned tables around, he also mentioned that Jay Freeman aka saurik who is also an iOS developer and creator of Cydia App Store helped him putting together the last piece of iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak puzzle.
OK, figured it out, the A5 cache is not a problem anymore.
I sorted it out by doing the untether in a single thread and by flushing all the dcache then all the icache in a row at a strategical point of the process.It took me like a hundred of tests to find the key. Hard for the nerves.
Another news : I discussed with @saurik today about the launchd boot process, and he’s found one missing piece of the puzzle I needed to have a perfectly stable jailbreak. He’s definitly one of the best iOS gurus out there. Thank you saurik!
Remember that if Pod2g successfully achieves a stable iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S it will also be applicable on iPad 2. Currently iPad 2 users can only jailbreak their devices on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0. Today’s update paves way for a working untethered iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1.
Pod2g announced and demoed his untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 almost 2 weeks ago. Later he also confirmed that his unethered jailbreak will also work on iOS 5.0.1. Pod2g started testing iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S just couple of days ago. iPhone-Dev team on the other hand is also busy working on their version of iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 5.0 there’s no confirmation whether their jailbreak would work on iOS 5.0.1 or not. Pod2g’s untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 is complete and has been tested on iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 4(CDM), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1. iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are the only two device which are still a hindrance in iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak public release.
There’s no ETA for a public release but we’re hoping to see a complete jailbreak and unlock package this Christmas.
