Samsung Isn't Worried About Apple's HDTV
Apple stands on such a position right now that other companies get scared whenever they hear a rumor about Apple jumping in their field. Fresh on the plate are Apple’s HDTV rumors which are creating sensations in TV industry and many leading TV manufacturing companies are seriously worried about Apple’s HDTV, if there is any. But when you’re good at something then you know that nothing can beat you and that’s what folks over Samsung are thinking. Samsung’s product manager mentioned in a statement which was recorded earlier today that Samsung is not worried about Apple’s HDTV.
“We’ve not seen what they’ve done but what we can say is that they don’t have 10,000 people in R&D in the vision category,” he said. “They don’t have the best scaling engine in the world and they don’t have world renowned picture quality that has been awarded more than anyone else.”
“TVs are ultimately about picture quality. Ultimately. How smart they are…great, but let’s face it that’s a secondary consideration. The ultimate is about picture quality and there is no way that anyone, new or old, can come along this year or next year and beat us on picture quality.”
“So, from that perspective, it’s not a great concern but it remains to be seen what they’re going to come out with, if anything.”
Picture quality matters, megapixels matter, contrast ratio matters but the thing they’re missing here is that user experience also matters. Samsung has already mentioned in their previous statement that they have already introduced the smart TVs in industry. The smart TVs which Samsung is currently offering are not so smart anyway, putting Skype or ability to browse web or YouTube doesn’t make a TV smarter or does it?
Picture quality, contrast ratio, more megapixel and the best scaling engine may be some the factors which play an important role in building a smart TV but they not the only factors. Apple is famous for it’s simplicity and design aesthetics and believe you me they weigh a lot in making a smart TV. Samsung makes one of the finest displays in the world but that does not make them a fine software producer. Apple on the other hand has one of the finest mobile operating system in the world which Samsung isn’t counting here.
IF Apple comes out with an HDTV which will provide an amazing user experience and a friendly user interface I don’t think Samsung’s picture quality would matter.
