Samsung Unveils Galaxy S III With Quad-Core Processor, 8 Megapixel Camera And Siri Like S Voice [Video]

GALAXY-S-III

And finally Samsung’s third generation phone of Galaxy series is here. Before getting in to minor details and specs of this phone I’m warning you that it’s huge, very huge. Korean Electronics manufacturer held a special media event for the launch of Galaxy S III in London earlier today. As Samsung is not very secretive about their products, we saw some leaked images way before the official launch. If you already own a Galaxy Nexus phone then you really don’t need to rally every cell in your brains and think about the changes in form factor of GS III. It looks just like Galaxy Nexus but yes it has a physical home button. GALAXY-S-III

Anyhow coming back to the product itself, Galaxy S III comes with a huge 4.8″ AMOLED display which gives you a crispier display. The processor is what everyone’s talking about, Samsung ships Galaxy S III with 1.4 GHz quad core Exynos 4 Quad processor. The company claims it to be the fastest smartphone ever shipped but it would be too early to comment on speed of this phone. Coming to the camera, Galaxy S III sports an 8 Megapixel auto focus camera, presenter didn’t focus much on the camera itself during the keynote which gives us a clear indication that it’s not THAT important feature in GSIII. Apple, however, focuses more on the camera, in iPhone 4S Apple introduced a new 5 element lens technology which gives a crispier result than any smartphone camera shipped. Judging by some initial photo tests I’m very comfortable to say that iPhone 4S’ camera is still the best in market.

Galaxy SIII is packed with 1GB of RAM which makes it more responsive and snappier. Samsung Galaxy S III would be kicking Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which is the lastest Android OS available in market. Now coming to Samsung “revolutionary” voice assistant, yes it’s more like Siri but Samsung would never accept it. Anyhow, S Voice is a new “smart” voice assistant which is being shipped in every Galaxy S III device. Though Samsung tried their best to create SOMETHING like Siri but they somehow failed to rip it off completely, during the presentation the presenter asked for news and he got weather. Anyhow, one of the best thing which anyone would LOVE about this phone is not something from this phone — every Galaxy S III owner would get 50 GB free Dropbox storage (not confirmed yet).

If you’re thinking what else Samsung copied from Apple this time well let’s start, S Voice which I mentioned above is Siri’s rip off (video above), there’s another new feature “Scan and Match” which is just like Apple iTunes Match, then we have AllShare Cast more like Apple’s AirPlay, in the last we an iPod nano like music player by the name of Pebble. 16 GB and 32 GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III would be available right after its launch and a 64GB version would be available after sometime. There’s also an option to bump storage memory up to 64GB with SD card. Galaxy S III would be available in UK on May 29.

Overall this not a huge update and if you already own a Galaxy Nexus then you can sit on the couch and relax because there’s nothing new.

We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
