Steve Jobs Worked On The Large iPhone Screen Design, Bloomberg
Apple is planning to introduce a large 4.0 inch screen in next iteration of iPhone and according to a new report from Bloomberg Apple’s co-founder and ex-CEO Steve Jobs worked on this design himself. The report also backed WSJ’s 4 inch iPhone screen story and also claims that Steve closely worked on this design before his death in October last year.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has placed orders from suppliers in Asia for screens that are bigger than the 3.5- inch size now on the smartphone, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had worked closely on the redesigned phone before his death in October, one person said.
It would be Apple’s third major design change in 5 year history of iPhone. Original iPhone also known as iPhone 2G was introduced with a metallic back, in 2008 Apple changed the design and introduced plastic back in iPhone 3G and the design remained same for iPhone 3GS which was launched in 2009. Next major design change occurred in 2010 when Apple unveiled 4th generation of iPhone — iPhone 4. Just like iPhone 3GS Apple’s 5th generation of iPhone — iPhone 4S didn’t get any design makeover. Looking at this brief design change history, it is highly likely that Apple would bring a huge change in their 6th generation iPhone. Rumors regarding large iPhone screen started in 2011 just before the launch of iPhone 4S but the company didn’t change anything in the design over all. Now a recent report from WSJ confirmed previous rumors regarding a large 4.0 inch screen and claimed that Apple is placing orders for 4 inch iPhone screen.
Apple is tapping three different display manufacturers South Korea’s LG Display Co., Japan’s Sharp Corp. and Japan Display Inc., for 4 inch display panels. The report also claimed that the production of these display panels would start as soon as next month.
Next generation of iPhone would reportedly hit shelves by the end of this year. Recent reports also suggest that 6th generation of iPhone would also include 4G LTE technology which Apple recently introduced in 3rd generation of iPad.
