Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Untethered On iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad With Redsn0w 0.9.10b1

And finally the wait is over folks, an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 is here. You can now jailbreak your A4 device on iOS 5.0.1 untethered. This jailbreak is the result of pod2g’s untethered exploit which he was working on from quite some time now.

This jailbreak has been released in the form of redsn0w 0.9.10b1 for Windows and Mac operating systems.

Many of you have already been following @pod2g’s blog where he’s been keeping everyone up to date on his progress. And so you know that he recently decided to push the button on a release for all devices except the new iPhone4S and iPad2. @pod2g’s untether involves two separate exploits and a few other “tricks” — and since he’s taken the @comex approach of doing nearly everything himself, you know his plate has been full these past few months!

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

This untethered jailbreak will work on following iOS device:

iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPhone 4 (CDMA)
iPad 1
iPod touch 3G
iPod touch 4G

If you’ve already jailbroken your device using redsn0w 0.9.9b9 or any latest version of redsn0w all you have to do is re run redsn0w 0.9.10b1 and deselect Cydia. If you’re on iOS 5.0 and want an untethered jailbreak, you need to update your device to iOS 5.0.1 first. If you rely on unlock then you should update your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 using custom IPSW firmware file created with sn0wbreeze. Otherwise you will update your baseband and loose your ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM unlock.
