Upcoming iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Won't Work With iPod touch 3G And iPhone 3GS
Pod2G has just announced that his upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak won’t work on iPod touch 3G and iPhone 3GS. The announcement was made in a Twitter update earlier today, later it was also posted on his blog. iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is what the community is looking forward to right now and the hacker has been actively working on it from quite some time now. We’ve told you before that testing is most crucial product in any jailbreak release cycle and we’re going through it right now in case of iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.
As I already said on twitter, iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS won’t be compatible with the upcoming jailbreak.
Next tests on my list :
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 2
Pod2G has confirmed that this jailbreak works on iPhone 4 and iPad 3. A video demo of iPad 3 iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak was also released by Pod2G just couple of days ago. He is now planning to extend his testing process to two new devices — iPhone 4S and iPad 2. After testing of these two devices we’d be in a comfortable position to say something about the release date of upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.
Earlier today Pod2G also posted some FAQs about upcoming iOS 5.1.x untethered jailbreak which pretty much clears everything about this jailbreak.
5.1.x untethered jailbreak FAQ
I receive lots of questions either by email or twitter about the 5.1.x untethered jailbreak.
Here are some answers :
- The poll about releasing now or waiting for 6.0 ended with a 64% / 33% to release ASAP. Where is the link ? ETA ? How much % done ? etc.
As I said earlier in twitter, there’s still a lot to do to have a user friendly and well tested tool to install the jailbreak on end users devices. Expect a release in a couple of weeks.
- Will it be compatible with my <any random iOS device> ?
It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except iPod 3G, iPhone 3Gs and ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows).
- Why is it so slow to release now that the iPad 3,1 has been demoed ?
There are 16 different devices out there to work on and to test. It takes time.
- May I be a beta tester ?
No, sorry. Only really trusted people (that can be counted on one hand) could have access to the jailbreak. I don’t want any leak to happen.
- What if I offer you 1,000,000$ ?
That doesn’t change a thing.
Be patient, it’s gonna happen.
The release can take weeks, as I mentioned above that we’d be in a comfortable position to assume a release date after testing phase.
We will keep you updated on this, stay tuned!
