Upcoming Version Of Redsn0w Will Support iPhone 4S, iPad2/3 Downgrades And iTunes-less Restoration
Good news! You remember we told you last year that iPhone-Dev team is working on a major redsn0w overhaul. Well it
looks like they just did it. MuscleNerd of iPhone-Dev team has just announced that upcoming version of redsn0w jailbreaking tool will support A5 and A5X downgrades. This is a really great news specially for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3 owners because they would finally be able to downgrade their iOS firmware version with redsn0w. Keep in mind that iOS firmware downgrade is limited to non A5 devices only because (as of this writing) we don’t have a bootrom level exploit for A5 or A5X chip. It is really important to note here that you would only be able to downgrade your iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and iPad 3 if you have saved SHSH blobs for the iOS firmware version you’re downgrading to. Without saved SHSH blobs this tools won’t help you downgrade your iOS device.
iH8Sn0w gave us a hint couple of weeks ago that he has found an exploit which would allow iPhone 4S iPad 2, and iPad 3 users to downgrade their iOS firmware version but no further details were disclosed. However, this upcoming version of redsn0w uses a completely different method to downgrade your A5 (iPhone 4S, iPad 2) and A5X (iPad 3) devices. This is not the only feature which iPhone-Dev team is introducing in upcoming redsn0w, MuscleNerd also announced that Redsn0w would also Restore your iOS devices as well. This is what every jailbreaker can dream of. Restoring an iOS device without iTunes is more like a dream come true for the community, no more 3194 error, no more 1600 errors and it’s going to be great. Redsn0w 0.9.11b1 (so far) would restore firmware to all of your iOS devices including non A5 devices. Details are scant right now so it would be too early to call it completely iTunes-less restoration. 
iPhone-Dev team announced that iTunesless restoration feature will be included in upcoming builds when they introduced some major features in redsn0w 0.9.10b7 last month. Redsn0w 0.9.11b1 is what they’re calling it right now. The upcoming version of redsn0w would also allow your to stitch SHSH blobs and create custom iOS firmware files on the fly, now that it something if I do say so myself. There is no word on the release of redsn0w 0.9.11b1 but we’re not that far away from it.
After all these features, redsn0w will be the first “all-in-one” jailbreaking tool.
